Money can be saved year after year

A Liberal Democrat motion to Surrey County Council on energy efficiency tabled in October 2001, is now about to yield action and substantial savings to Surrey's taxpayers. These savings should amount to £250,000 or £300,000 per year, out of an annual spending of the order of £6.5 million.

Councillor Tom Sharp, Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Environment on Surrey County Council, said: " I am very pleased with the results of our motion. Substantial savings can be made just from "one-off" steps such as the use of the right tariffs. I only regret that the Conservative administration on Surrey County Council have taken so long to see the light."
