How Deep is your Pothole?

5.18.24pm GMT Fri 18th Feb 2005

Worried highways officers

Valuable time will be wasted measuring the depth of potholes rather than getting on with the repairs!

The Conservative administration has recently decided that potholes with a depth of less than 4 centimetres will not be treated as a high priority to be repaired within 24 hours. This latest decision is an admission that the Conservative administration cannot cope with the necessary road repairs.

Their priority is clearly to reduce their target in order to improve their results rather than to tackle the real problem, which is the poor condition of the roads. It would be more cost-effective to repair small potholes rather than to watch and wait until they grow to a 4 centimetre depth.

Much valuable time will be wasted measuring the depth of potholes rather than getting on with the repairs!
