Liberal Democrat Manifesto for Surrey Launched6.00.00pm GMT Thu 3rd Mar 2005
The Liberal Democrats in Surrey have launched their manifesto for the County Council elections on May 5th. The manifesto includes the Liberal Democrat "Programme of Action" for Surrey from 2005 to 2009 and highlights their "Top Ten" priorities for action to improve services for Surrey residents. Welcoming the manifesto, Kingston M.P. Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, said: "The Liberal Democrats are growing in strength and support in Surrey. They are the only ones who can defend Surrey's interests, as there is little to choose between the Government's approach and the aspirations of the Conservatives." Guildford M.P. Sue Doughty said: "The Liberal Democrats have listened to Surrey's residents, prioritised those services most in need of improvement and identified how these services could be funded by making substantial savings in wasted spending by the County Council." Councillor Hazel Watson, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Surrey County Council said: "It is time for change at County Hall. The Liberal Democrats offer residents improved services, better value for money and cutting out wasteful spending by the Council."
